ROXAS CITY – An Organic Rice Farming (ORF) Seminar has been conducted at Energy System Launching Area (ESLA), Brgy. Lanot here last July 5, 2010. Gov. Vic Tanco graced the said occasion to show his support on the agriculture sector as part of his development agenda of “Vibrant Economy” for the province.
The said seminar was conducted to teach rice farmers of this province on the new method of organic farming in order to improve their production.
Resource persons of the said conference are all rice farming experts from Thailand, headed by Agricultural Engineers Hothongcum Kristatanon and Hothongcum Fontip, Masters in Agricultural Economics Kanjamarat Saranya, Agriculturist Andrew Gay, and Founding President of ICL Bangkok Mrs. Gloria Balderama.
Also graced the event are Board Members Lawyer Remia Fuentes Bartolome and Aldwin Cruz-am, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Secretary Zoe Herrera Jr., City Councilor Matthew James Viterbo and Provincial Agriculturist Sylvia dela Cruz. (cppb)

PHO statistics revealed that since January until July this year, about five hundred thirty nine (539) were hospitalized and there are six (6) confirmed deaths because of dengue.
Joeffrey Espiritu, Health Education Promotion Officer I of PHO said that their office is taking all steps available to educate the people of this province about the disease. Barangay and municipal health workers are monitoring there areas for cases of dengue Fever so that the required medical attention will be given immediately.
Espiritu also said that their “4s” information dissemination campaign is on going. The 4s explain the means on how to avoid dengue Fever.
First is Search and destroy the breeding places of the mosquitoes, known to be carrier of the said disease. Second is Self Protection which reminds the people to use mosquito nets and repellants, and other protection when they sleep. Third is Say no to indiscriminate fogging because it’s not a guaranteed method of repelling mosquitoes and it’s hazardous to the health. Lastly, Seek early consultation as soon as symptoms of the said disease appears.
“Vigilance is the key in order to avoid the deadly dengue fever, as soon as symptoms appears, I urged you to seek medical help immediately.” Espiritu added. (cppb)
The purpose of the said order is to maintain the physical fitness of the employees through exercise using the stadium facilities.
In order to avail the said benefits, regular employees of the provincial government should present their valid identification cards as part of the said order. (cppb)
ROXAS CITY, CAPIZ - In his 2nd term as the governor of the province, Gov. Victor A. Tanco humbly held his hand high in an oath taking ceremony here at the Immaculate Conception , Metropolitan Cathedral last June 30, 2010.
A thanksgiving mass led by Archbishop Onesimo C. Gordoncillo was held before the oath taking ceremony.
The governor was sworn into office by Judge Edward B. Contreras, of RTC Branch 17 of this city. Elected officials who also took oath are Vice Governor Esteban Evan Contreras, Board Members Sonny Besa, Remia Fuentes Bartolome, Roberto Ignacio, Eduardo Magallanes and Aldwin Cruz-am, Roxas City Mayor Alan Celino, and Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas together with the eight councilors, all members of the Liberal Party (LP).
Also present in the ceremony are 1st District Representative Antonio del Rosario and former Gov. Esteban Contreras. (cppb)

SIGMA, CAPIZ- Addressing the health needs of pregnant women, Gov. Victor Tanco led the inauguration of the new Birthing Clinic here last June 23, 2010.
The said health facility has basic birthing equipments including for normal delivery and was intended to accommodate the medical needs of pregnant women not only in Sigma but also in nearby municipalities. It also has a simple clinical laboratory with equipments such as microscopes, centrifuge and other tools used for blood typing and examination.
The clinic was made possible through the efforts of Gov. Vic Tanco together with European Commission and the Department of Health. (cppb)
ROXAS CITY, CAPIZ – Vice Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras urged the newly elected Board Members of Capiz to commit themselves in giving clean and sincere service to the Capiznons. He said this during the first inaugural session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) last July 1, 2010 at the SP Session Hall, Provincial Capitol here.
In his message, Vice Governor Contreras said that members of the board should have good and harmonious working relationship so that to ensure excellent service to the people of the province. “We are assured that Gov. Vic Tanco will always be supportive to us on whatever advocacies we will push for the good of everybody,” he added.
The board members also gave their privilege speeches expressing their “big thanks” to all of those who supported them last May 10, 2010 polls.
The next session is scheduled this coming July 9, 2010 to review their internal rules. They will also determine the exact day of the SP session during the said meeting. (cppb)
MAAYON, CAPIZ- Gov. Victor Tanco headed the inauguration of the newly constructed Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) Building of Maayon National High School (MNHS) here last June 23, 2010.
The said construction of the said building was assisted by the provincial government in line with its development agenda of giving quality and relevant education as well as building adequate infrastructure support system.
In his message, the Gov. Vic Tanco praised the principal, Dr. Segundina F. Dollete as well as the teaching staff of the said school in giving quality and relevant education to the students.
“For the education to be competitive and surpass the challenges, it must not depend on the schools administrators alone but with the collaborative support of parents and teachers because they play vital roles in promoting and enhancing holistic education” the governor added.
PTA President Merlyn Comorro thanked the Governor for the support on the construction of the mentioned building. “It will be forever treasured and remembered” Mrs. Comorro added. (cppb)
